WOWPASS eSIM FAQ(EN)

Which devices support eSIM?

β€’
Various devices such as iPhone XS or later, Galaxy S20 or later, and Pixel series support eSIM, but compatibility may vary depending on model, region, and carrier policies.
β€’
If you dial *#06# in the Phone app and see an EID (eSIM Identification Number), your device is likely eSIM-compatible.
β€’
Devices with Country Lock or Carrier Lock may not be able to install an eSIM profile from another carrier, so please check if your device is unlocked.

How do I install an eSIM?

1.
Go to Settings β†’ Mobile Network (Cellular).
2.
Select Add eSIM (or Add Cellular Plan).
3.
Scan the issued QR code or manually enter the eSIM profile.
4.
After installation, set your default data/voice line to the new eSIM.
β€’
For device-specific steps, refer to the User Guide and attached images (iOS/Android installation screenshots).
β€’
Please follow the appropriate install guide. There are two guides provided for before arrival and after arrival. (Applicable for both iOS/Android)

Do I need to be connected to the internet to install an eSIM?

β€’
Yes, You need an active Wi-Fi or mobile data connection to install an eSIM.
β€’
If the network disconnects during the profile download, the installation may fail. Ensure you have a stable connection.

An error message appears when installing the eSIM

β€’
If you see the β€œCannot be activated” the eSIM may actually have been installed correctly. Check if it’s working as intended.
β€’
If β€œCannot add cellular plan” or β€œCannot add eSIM” appears, the same eSIM profile might already be installed.
β€’
If β€œCannot activate eSIM” appears, it could be because the eSIM was installed before entering Korea and hasn't yet connected to the carrier network. Try again after arrival.

eSIM keeps showing "Activating..." during installation

β€’
If you install the eSIM before arriving in Korea, you might see the β€œActivating…” status for 1-2 hours due to the lack of a live network connection.
β€’
Once you arrive and connect to a network, check if the activation completes successfully.

Why do I need identity verification?

β€’
Without identity verification, calls and texts will not be available, and you can only use data.
β€’
After verifying your identity in Korea, you will be able to receive calls and texts.
β€’
To make calls or send texts, you may need an SKT top-up service. If needed, refer to the link below:

Can I send texts or make calls?

β€’
If you have completed identity verification after arriving in Korea, receiving calls and texts will be enabled automatically.
β€’

Can I get a refund?

β€’
If eSIM is not used and it is within the validity period, the refund may be possible. (If refund is possible, β€˜Refund’ button will appear at the QR code section of the reservation page.)
β€’
Refunds are not available once the eSIM QR code has been installed.
β€’
However, if your device is carrier-locked (restricted from using foreign SIMs) or does not support eSIM, you may be eligible for a refund.
β€’
Refund processing can take a few days, so please keep this in mind when applying.
