e-Passport Authentication Guide

Getting Ready

1.
Make sure your smartphone supports NFC.
iPhone: All devices that support the WOWPASS app also support NFC
Android: Some devices may not support NFC. Please check in your device’s system settings.
2.
Prepare your physical e-passport.
If the front cover of your passport has the following symbol, it supports e-passport functionality.
If your passport does not support e-passport functionality, please proceed with authentication by taking a photo instead.
3.
Proceed with e-passport authentication in the app.
This process is only required once.
You can start e-passport authentication from:
“Settings” → “Account / Security”
During the “Top-up” process
During the “Create Virtual Account” process

How to Scan

iOS (iPhone)

1.
Place your passport on a flat surface and start the e-passport authentication.
2.
Once the NFC scan starts, hold the top back side of your iPhone (near the camera) over the center of your passport.
3.
When the “NFC tag detected” message appears, do not move the phone and hold it steady for at least 5 seconds.
Do not switch apps or turn off the screen until the scan is complete.
If the scan is not successful, try the following:
1.
Try scanning the top or bottom of the passport instead of the center — the chip location may vary depending on the country and year of issuance.
2.
Some phone cases may interfere with NFC functionality. Try removing the case temporarily.
3.
If repeated errors occur, restart your phone and try again.
4.
If the issue persists, please proceed with photo-based authentication.
4.
Once the scan is complete, the app will automatically move to the next step.
